For Canadian country music artist Mallory Johnson, the last few years have been quite the Cinderella Story.
After years of recording and touring with her Celtic family band The Cormiers, Mallory was eager and ready to pursue a music career in the genre she was most passionate about— a career in country music.
Stumbling upon a provincial talent contest in Newfoundland & Labrador, Mallory wowed the judges with her original music and stage presence, earning her the coveted grand prize. Little did she know, one of the judges was Facebook buddies with multi-platinum artist Sammy Kershaw. Kershaw was both impressed and convinced that Mallory’s voice needed to be heard, so he jumped on board to both manage her and produce her debut record. Shortly after, Mallory was on her way to Nashville and Muscle Shoals to record her album with top session players and engineers.
In 2015, Mallory released her debut single “Tupelo” to US radio and downloading/streaming outlets. The song skyrocketed to #6 on the Canadian Country iTunes Top Songs List on the first day of the release. The music video, produced by Tuckamore Productions, found a home on GAC, CMT.com, roughstock.com, and VEVO Canada. The incredible response to her music landed her opportunities to share the stage with artists like Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, The Sheepdogs, Serena Ryder, Corey Hart, and Dean Brody. Mallory is also the winner of the 2017 CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest, which secured her a performance during the CCMA Legends Show alongside artists like Paul Brandt, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and Ian Tyson.
Since her debut release, Mallory has made Nashville her home base, and has been busy writing, networking, and promoting her music. With two US singles under her belt, she is gearing up towards a 6-song EP release in early 2018.
